A cosy hamlet on the outskirts of St Michel de Montjoie, our village has a traditional, local épicerie with petrol station; and just 2 minutes' drive away there is a superb local bakery with assorted bread, pastries and cakes baked on site. We have several friendly local Bar Tabacs, and the nearby towns of Vire and Sourdeval are only 10-15 minutes by car. These provide all necessary amenities, such as supermarkets, banks, post-offices, pharmacies and petrol-stations; and we have a variety of excellent French restaurants. We have our own granite museum, and biennial "fete du granit". Situated in the heart of the "Bocage" of south western Normandy, we are surrounded by the orchards and meadows of the region.

Take in the local French custom (and a step back in time), and browse around one of the weekly markets. Sample the locally-produced cheese, the mouthwateringly fresh fruit, or take home some fresh produce for a splendid but leisurely supper "al fresco".

Caen (Ouistreham) is one of the most convenient ferry ports, being only 52 miles' away. However, St. Malo is just over 1 hr's drive, and Cherbourg is still a comfortable distance at 83 miles. Although slightly further, Le Havre and Dieppe provide additional options.

Caen and Dinard are also very convenient for flights from Stansted, for those who prefer not to sail.
